The Chelsea Hotel, built in 1883 was once the tallest building in Chelsea built as a private cooperative. Due to economic trouble and the relocation of theatres the building was bankrupt within a few years and purchased and reopened as a hotel in 1905.
The 12 story red brick building is know for it's famous staircase and it's illustrious residents. Both a field of dreams and a breeding ground for tragedy the hotel has both a colorful and troubled past.
